Pilates Mat Classes

Pilates training is for the individual looking to achieve balanced, total body conditioning.  With an emphasis on the muscles of the body's center, or "powerhouse," The Pilates Method strengthens and stretches the whole body while teaching muscle control. A regular semester of 60-minute classes is 10 weeks long and progressive, starting more slowly to learn basics. Class size is limited to provide individual attention.

Mat Classes are held six mornings a week at 9:30 am, Monday through Saturday in the classroom in the main office building. Most classes accommodate a mixed level of student ability. There is a class in the Basics for beginners, those with restrictions and students who need to review. The Friday Advanced class is for experienced or athletic students who know the commands and want a workout with little instruction. Save questions for after class or a private session.

Winter Semester begins Tuesday January 3rd and continues through to mid March. There are no scheduled classes during the February school vacation week. New students are encouraged to come in at any time during the semester. Beginners are welcomed with a requirement of 2 private lessons at a 20% discount.

The Semester Card is for an unlimited number of classes during the 10 week semester for $175. That gives you 60 classes to choose from.

Students may come as a "drop-in" to any class on a space-available basis for $23.

Instructors: Lisa Carusone (Power and Classical Pilates), Melissa Hoch (Classical and Polestar Pilates) and Erin Joyce (Stott Method).

Stretching

Classes

Monday morning class focuses on stretching as part of the Semester Card (see above). It is conducted by Erin Joyce and includes Pilates exercises.

Active Isolated Stretching Classes are held by request. Put a group of friends or fellow athletes together (minimum of 4 students).

The class is designed to teach the basics of stretching so that the active person can repeat the stretches outside of class. Each class will go over Active Isolated Stretches for the whole body with more detailed instruction on a featured area. Learning AIS in class or in personal appointments will prepare you to do the full routine on your own.

Yoga

Private and Semi-Private Yoga sessions and small classes are available for the able-bodied and disabled. Learn one-on-one or bring a friend or two to join you.

Yoga Classes can be scheduled by request. Get a few friends together for your choice of yoga styles at a good time for you.
